With just nine days and counting before local schools open Aug. 13, most summer modernization projects appear on track to be ready for the first day.

Mark Wheeler, manager of facilities and construction, will review those projects Monday night and advise the Patterson Unified School District board about change orders for some of the projects. Three are among Monday’s action items.

The Patterson High School shower-locker room is completed, and coaches will move in next week.

Portable classrooms at Patterson High School and Creekside Middle School are also ready for classes.

Three other projects, all at Patterson High School, are ahead of schedule. Modernization of the 130-140 classroom wing, installation of air conditioning in the auditorium and renovations of Patterson Community Stadium should be done in the next few weeks.

The high school gym is expected to be ready for one physical education class at a time, but the foyer won’t be ready for the opening day of school.
