City Manager Rod Butler confirmed Monday, Feb. 11 that the City Council had directed him to negotiate a price and terms for the 15,000-square-foot building and 2.5 acres of land in the Keystone Pacific Business Park. The lot includes secure parking behind the building.
Negotiations with Frontier are expected to begin in the next week, he said.
Butler would not confirm why the city was purchasing the property.
However, Mayor Luis Molina mentioned a need for more space for public safety facilities in his State of the City address Tuesday, Feb. 12.
The building is around the corner from Patterson Fire Station No. 2, 1950 Keystone Pacific Parkway.
Denise Sperle, the Central Valley general manager of Frontier Communications, said the building was too large since a staff restructuring five years ago, and the location was not convenient for the company’s local customers.
Sperle said Frontier was searching for a building in Patterson
“We want to be closer to our customers,” she said.
She did not specify where the company was looking.
