House of Floyd will present its full-production musical and visual tribute to Pink Floyd on Sept. 15 at the Westside Theatre, 1331 Main St., in Newman.

Seven musicians from the San Francisco Bay Area got together to form House of Floyd in 2005. Band members bring more than 30 years each of musical experience to the Pink Floyd tribute.

The band not only re-

creates the sounds of Pink Floyd albums; it also incorporates the video and lighting experiences live Pink Floyd performances are known for.

Doors will open at

7 p.m., and the show will begin at 8 p.m.

Tickets are $17 general admission and $20 reserved seating.

Cardoza hosts info night

Rep. Dennis Cardoza, D-Merced, and Rep. George Radanovich, R-Mariposa, will sponsor Academy Information Night on Sept. 18.

The open house will give high school juniors and seniors, parents and high school guidance counselors the scoop on educational and career opportunities at U.S. military service academies.

The night will begin at 6:30 p.m. at Harvest Hall, Stanislaus County Ag Center, 3800 Cornucopia Way, in Modesto.   

Representatives from the U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs; U.S. Military Academy, West Point; U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis; and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy will be available to answer questions.

Each member of Congress is allowed as many as five appointees to each service academy. For each vacancy, Cardoza can nominate 10 individuals.
