Yolanda Lomeli

Aug. 31, 1961 — Feb.15, 2013

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Feb. 22, for Yolanda Lomeli, who died peacefully surrounded by her family after a 10-year struggle with Anorexia Nervosa.

A longtime resident of Grayson, she moved to Modesto in 2003. Her friends and family will remember Yolanda fondly for her talents both in the sewing room and kitchen. Her ability to sew clothing and decorate cakes “like a pro” made her the go to person whenever a special occasion came around. Often her cakes were deemed too beautiful to eat! She discovered her love of collecting and became an avid doll collector early on. Her love of books drove Ms. Lomeli to apply for employment at the Modesto County Library where she worked for 12 years.

Her father, Francisco Lomeli and older brother, Jesus “Jessie” Lomeli, preceded Ms. Lomeli in death. She is survived by her mother, Margarita Lomeli of Patterson; three sisters, Margarita Lomeli, Sylvia Shupe and Elizabeth Lomeli, all of Patterson; five brothers, Javier Lomeli of Turlock, Ricardo, Lomeli of North Hollywood, Refugio Lomeli of Turlock, Francisco Lomeli, Jr. of Lake Balboa and Gabriel Lomeli of San Mateo.

A Visitation will be observed from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 21, followed by a recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. at Hillview Funeral Chapel, 450 W. Las Palmas Ave., in Patterson. A second visitation will be observed at 9 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 22, the chapel. The visitation will be followed by a 10 a.m. Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 529 I St., in Patterson. Burial will follow at Patterson District Cemetery, 10800 Highway 33, Patterson.

Memorial contributions in Mrs. Lomeli’s name may be sent to National Association of Anorexia Nervosa & Associated Disorders (ANAD), 750 E Diehl Road #127, Naperville, IL 60563.
