EDITOR,
My wife and I live in Scotts Valley. The other day we went to shop at the Target store in Watsonville. On the way there, we drove by several local Watsonville businesses. We did not stop at any of them. We shopped at Target, got everything we needed, and then we returned to Scotts Valley.
No money was spent in support of the local Watsonville businesses that we drove directly past to get to Target.
Those who think that people will come down to Scotts Valley to shop during a visit to Target are completely naive. Target chose its proposed location for a reason. Jump off Highway 17, get what you need, get back on 17 and be on your way with very little trouble.
For those in support of Target, the next time you head to the Target store in Watsonville, try to count how many local Watsonville businesses you supported during your trip.
