The Stanislaus Local Agency Formation Commission — an agency chartered to deal with land-use issues for Stanislaus County and its cities — is scheduled to talk about expansion of the 1,119-acre West Patterson Business Park.
The meeting begins at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, in the Modesto City Council chambers, 1010 10th St.
The expansion in west Patterson would encompass Arambel Business Park and KDN Retail Center, projects proposed for land west of Rogers Road, east of Interstate 5, south of Zacharias Road and north of Sperry Avenue. Most of the area is farmland.
Adding it to the city limits would expand Patterson’s physical area by roughly 30 percent in four phases during 20 years or more.
The project manager for Arambel, Joe Hollowell, said on Tuesday, Feb. 19, that the developers of both projects are excited to have reached the final phase of approval to join West Patterson Business Park.
“This is really the continuation of one of the most successful business parks in the county,” he said. “We expect the majority of the people in other parts of the county would be supportive of such a project.”
The 948-acre Arambel park would focus on light industrial businesses, similar to those already in the West Patterson Business Park, including CVS and Kohl’s distribution centers. The 104-acre KDN center would include retail uses .
LAFCo consists of two county supervisors selected by the full board of supervisors, two city council representatives selected by a majority of the mayors in the county and a public member selected by the other four members. None of the five commissioners is from Patterson.
