Relay Recess is held in coordination with the American Cancer Society Relay For Life, a 24-hour walk that will take place in Patterson on April 27 and 28.
Relay Recess program raises funds from student pledges for the American Cancer Society, focuses on cancer awareness education and physical activity. Students will be having a coin drive.
Relay Recess runs for two weeks — from Monday, March 4, to March 15 — following a kickoff assembly Friday, March 1, at the school, 775 N Hartley St.
Money raised by the Walnut Grove students will be donated to Relay For Life of Patterson in the name of their school. That event is expected to raise more than $60,000 to help the American Cancer Society in its goal of saving lives from cancer.
