School garden seminar covers basics

A daylong garden seminar in Modesto on how to create and sustain school and community gardens is open to the public from 8:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. March 9, a Saturday.

The workshop covers topics from digging in the dirt to building a team and is recommended for garden teams of four to six members. Breakfast and lunch are included.

Participants will gather in rooms H and I of the Stanislaus Building, 3800 Cornucopia Way.

The sponsors are University of California Cooperative Extension, Lifelab and University of California, Davis.

Checks for $20 per person should be made payable to “University of California Regents” and mailed by Wednesday, March 6, to Theresa Spezzano, 3800 Cornucopia Way, Ste. A, Modesto, CA 95358.
