Patients throughout the West Side will have access to local dialysis care beginning in 2014.

Keystone Corp., operator of Keystone Pacific Business Park in west Patterson, announced Monday, Feb. 25, that Modesto Kidney Group will open a dialysis treatment center in the business park.

Keystone finalized a deal Thursday, Feb. 21, with the Modesto Kidney Medical Group, Dr. Kriengsak Itsara and other partners to purchase an 8,913-square-foot building at 1700-A Keystone Pacific Parkway for what will become Patterson Dialysis Center.

The center is expected to open within a year, according to Itsara.

Dialysis is a treatment required on a regular basis by people with chronic kidney disease .

Patterson Dialysis Center will join several health care practices in the business park.

Del Puerto Health Center, run by the Del Puerto Health Care District, opened at 1700 Keystone Pacific Parkway in March 2012. It was joined in the fall by West Orthodontics in Ste. C1 and Golden Bear Physical Therapy in Ste. C2.

The health center moved from Highway 33 and Ward Avenue, while West Orthodontics relocated from El Circulo. Golden Bear added Patterson to its collection of regional offices in Modesto, Turlock and Oakdale.

Keith Schneider, executive vice president of North Carolina-based Keystone Corp., said Keystone wanted to add more medical services at the business park.

“Our goal of creating a medical center in the Keystone Pacific Business Park is becoming a reality,” Schneider said Tuesday, Feb. 26.

Modesto Kidney Medical Group owns and operates two dialysis centers in Modesto, Modesto Kidney Center and Parkway Center, in cooperation with Innovative Dialysis System Inc.

Itsara stated in a news release that the Patterson center will give local patients convenient access to dialysis care.

“The new facility at Keystone Business Park will give patients who live in the area expanded access to care closer to home, while offering additional choice providers and a strong commitment to high-quality patient care,” the doctor stated. “The Patterson Dialysis Center will be designed and built to the highest standards of quality, and we expect to provide services to patients within a year at this new center.”

More than 20 million U.S. adults are estimated to have chronic kidney disease, and many are undiagnosed. Kidney disease, often caused by diabetes, is the ninth-leading cause of death in the U.S, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
