Creekside students win musical honors

Eight Creekside Middle School students excelled in the California Music Educators Association Solo/Ensemble Festival on Saturday, March 2, at California State University, Stanislaus, in Turlock.

Shana Vaid, 13, received a superior rating for her flute solo.

Excellent ratings were awarded to Sandra Garcia, 13, for her saxophone solo and Evan Strope, 11, for her viola solo.

A string quartet performance by Evan, Ashley Jepson, 11, Kaylee Scheuller, 12, and Makenna Mann, 11, also received an excellent rating, as did a violin quartet performance by Ashley, Evan, Amber Moeller, 13, and Sarai Perez, 12.

Shana and Sandra are eighth-graders. Evan, Amber and Sarai are seventh-graders, and Ashley, Kaylee and Makenna are sixth-graders.
