Tax help offered

DETAILS: AARP volunteers are offering tax help in Patterson on Mondays and Thursdays until April 15 to help with income tax preparation. Men and women older than age 60 and low-income residents in the community can use this service. Tax filers should take their 2012 tax forms and preparation booklet, as well as a copy of last year’s income tax return, W-2 forms from each employer, any unemployment compensation statements, an SSA-1099 form for any Social Security benefits, all 1099 forms received, dependent care provider information and, if they wish to itemize deductions, all receipts or canceled checks.

DETAILS: State Sen. Anthony Cannella, of California’s 12th District, invites local residents to discuss legislative issues over coffee, in partnership with Patterson-Westley Chamber of Commerce. Cannella, a Republican, lives in Ceres.

Historians announce annual meeting

DETAILS: The Patterson Township Historical Society invites community members to its annual meeting, featuring guest speaker Pat Snoke. Snoke, a member of the Gustine Historical Society, will speak about the pioneer cemetery at the former Crows Landing naval base.

‘Story Stew’ opens on local stage
WHEN: 7:30 p.m.
WHERE: Apricot Valley Elementary School, 1320 Henley Parkway
DETAILS: Patterson Repertory Theatre presents “Story Stew: A Fairy Tale Revue,” directed by Tori Lee Scoles. In this youth theatre production, Jack, Jill, Little Red Riding Hood, Goldilocks, Hansel, Gretel and Mary are children who live together in a shoe. But when all the food in the cupboard mysteriously disappears, Old Mother Hubbard sends Jack out to sell his cow and buy more food. The show continues at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 22, and Saturday, March 23, and closes with a matinee at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 24.

March Against Hunger
WHEN: 8 a.m. registration, 8:30 a.m. start
WHERE: Father Connors Hall, 220 N. Salado Ave.
DETAILS: Rain or shine, participants will collect pledges and walk four miles to combat hunger. The money they raise will help people in Patterson, Westley, Grayson and Crows Landing. Walkers of all ages may participate, although an adult must accompany children younger than 13. Anyone who raises $25 or more will receive a T-shirt. Shirts can also be bought for $5 each.
