The Tigers (6-4 overall, 0-1 WAC) owned a 5-1 lead after two innings and a 7-3 advantage at the end of four frames, but the Wolves’ offense broke through with a five-run fifth inning that spurred the home team to victory.
Patterson coach Jennifer Hamm said her team lost its focus.
“The team played well for four good innings, but they became too relaxed, which allowed the opponent to take the lead,” Hamm said. “The girls have to understand that it takes seven complete innings. We handed Livingston the win. ”
Sophomore Leanna Lindsey led Patterson against Livingston (4-5, 1-0) with a three-run, inside-the-park home run. Sophomore Kianna Garza added a pair of hits for the Tigers.
“There is still plenty of league season left,” Hamm said. “If we take care of business like we are supposed to, we should be one of the teams to look out for.”
Patterson continues the league season Friday, March 22, at Los Banos High (6-6, 1-0).
