Patterson Repertory Theatre is celebrating its 10th anniversary in style Saturday, April 6, with its annual evening of art, music and wine.
Teenaged performers dressed in costumes from a decade of Patterson Rep plays will serve snacks as community members mingle and enjoy artwork.
Artists will display more than 100 works at the Hammon Senior Center during the ninth annual fundraiser for the local theater group.
More than 150 people attended the 2012 gala, raising $3,000, according to Tori Scoles a co-founder of Patterson Repertory Theatre.
“The great thing about this event is that it’s a laidback, friendly atmosphere, and everybody is there just to have a good time,” she said. “I think people are amazed by the amount of talent that we have in our area.”
Local business Steel and Ink will be on hand demonstrating tattooing on one of their clients.
“We’re trying to demonstrate all aspects of art,” Scoles said.
The gala will also feature music from the Turlock Sunshine Strummers and Friends ukulele group, who will play during the first hour of the event. Simon Wilson and Michael Lugo, who have performed in past Patterson Repertory Theatre productions, will contribute pop rock music, and local pianist Rachael Dunfee will conclude the entertainment for the night.
Among the food and drinks that will be served is beer brewed at home by Kevin Wilson, who has been at the event the past two years.
“Kevin is very enthusiastic ... and he loves to talk to others about beer brewing — it’s a love of his,” Scoles said.
Kathryn Loughman, youth artistic director for PRT, has been involved with the theater group for a decade and has good memories of the past nine galas.
“I was surprised by how fun this event is,” Loughman said. “There is so much local talent in the art, food and the music, and the community of people who come together to support each other and the Repertory Theatre is so wonderful. This gala is our big fundraiser for the year, and it involves the whole of Patterson in setting the theater up for its season's run of shows.”
Also on tap is a silent auction featuring gift certificates and baskets donated by local organizations and businesses.
The first 150 people who arrive will get a souvenir wine glass commemorating the gala.
Patterson Repertory Theater, co-founded by Scoles and Colton Dennis, has several presentations scheduled for the remainder of 2013.
Patterson Repertory Youth Theatre will present three one-act plays this summer: “The Ugly Duckling,” “The Silent Alarm” and a murder mystery by Agatha Christie
Patterson Repertory adult performers have “Waiting for Godot” on the docket for August and the James Joyce thriller “The Turn of the Screw” lined up for October.
