A Celebration of Life will be conducted on Friday, April 19 for Allister Albert Allen, who died on Wednesday, April 10 at his home.
Mr. Allen was born in Modesto and raised in Patterson. He graduated from Patterson High School, Modesto Junior College and the University of California, Berkeley. Mr. Allen served in the Second World War as a pharmacist Mate 1st Class on the U.S.S. Butte, and during the Korean War on the U.S.S. Butte, U.S.S. Baltimore, and U.S.S. New Jersey.
A farmer and real estate broker, Mr. Allen served on the Patterson Planning Commission, Patterson City Council, Stanislaus County School Board, Yosemite Community College Board and he was a volunteer Assistant Chief of the Patterson/West Stanislaus Fire Department. Mr. Allen was involved in the 20-30 Club, Masonic Lodge, Shrine, Elks Lodge, Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club, V.F.W., American Legion, McHenry Museum & Historical Society, was a charter member of the Knights of the Square Table, and a past Noble Grand Humbug of the E Clampus Vitas Chapter 58.
Mr. Allen is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marilynne; children, Kim Allen of Texas, Carrie Silveira and her husband, John, of Hilmar, Lisa Balucas and her husband, Ernie, of Fresno and Carter Allen and his wife, Judy, of Hebron MD; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mr. Allen was known as “a friend to all”, a committed community member, and a loving husband and father.
Burial will be private. A Celebration of Life Service will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 19, at the Masonic Hall 650 N. Sixth St. Patterson.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests making a memorial contribution in Mr. Allen’s name to Patterson / West Stanislaus Volunteer Fire Fighters, P.O. Box 565, Patterson CA 95363 or to Community Hospice, 4368, Spyres Way, Modesto, CA 95356.
