The American Red Cross Capital Region Chapter is asking community members to nominate individuals to be recognized for their heroic acts.

Honorees from Stanislaus and Tuolumne counties will be feted at the seventh annual Heroes Breakfast on June 11 at the Doubletree in Modesto, 1150 Ninth St.

The breakfast is an opportunity to honor someone who is not ordinarily recognized for his or her courage or compassion. Candidates must either live or work in Stanislaus or Tuolumne counties and have exhibited a “true act of selflessness” during the past two years.

Heroes can be nominated 12 categories, including professional rescuers, good Samaritans, animals, military personnel and veterans.

Nominations must be submitted by 5 p.m. Thursday, April 25, to Rebecca Ciszek, American Red Cross Capital Region Chapter, 1230 Sixth St., Modesto, CA 95354. Nominations can also be emailed to rebecca.ciszek@redcross.org or entered online at www.redcross.org/capitalregion.
