All things green will be celebrated Saturday, April 20, during an Earth Day cleanup event hosted by Patterson Teen Center at the Hammon Senior Center.

Center for Human Services, which runs the Teen Center at 1040 W. Las Palmas Ave. in the True Value shopping center, is hosting the event, which highlights ways to make the local community greener through litter removal, information booths and demonstrations.

Volunteers will form groups to pick up litter at Patterson Community Stadium, at Ward and Salado avenues, and around the True Value shopping center and the skate park, at Ward and Las Palmas avenues . Others will replant greenery at Hammon Senior Center, 1033 W. Las Palmas Ave., and hunt for discarded cigarette butts around downtown Patterson.

Participants are encouraged to take gloves and gardening tools.

More than 70 volunteers had registered as of Tuesday, April 16 for Earth Day festivities, which are scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon at the senior center. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m.

Booths at the senior center will explain ways to conserve water and energy and preserve natural resources. There will be music, and speakers will talk about recycling and handling household waste.

Members of the community are encouraged to take gently used clothing to donate to Goodwill Industries International Inc.
