Patterson Police deputies say a Patterson man was shot in the buttocks during an altercation outside of Las Gaviotas Restaurant at 525 S. Second St. in the early morning hours of April 13.

Patterson Police Sgt. Paul Yotsuya said that deputies responded to a call of shots fired outside the restaurant just after 1 a.m. April 13 to find none of the people involved in the shooting there.

Yotsuya said that a shooting victim was reported to police at an area hospital. The victim told deputies at the hospital that someone confronted the Patterson man and his friend with a gun outside of the restaurant. As they attempted to run away the victim was shot in the buttocks. Deputies were told the friend then took the victim directly to the hospital in the victim’s car. The friend dropped the keys to his car in the process of fleeing the scene of the shooting, Yotsuya said.

Yotsuya said that when the victim’s friend returned to pick up his car the next morning it had been stolen. Deputies have no suspects in the case, he said.

I'm sorry to say this but this town is getting worse and worse!!! I hear gunshots all the time and it frightens me. I do not have chilren yet but I will not raise my children here when I do have them! This is saddening because I know plenty of people who move here to raise their children and would not even think of doing that now! Something needs to change!!!!! I hope the city sees this comment because Patterson is not what it use to be!
