A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 14 for Anna Bertha Riebli Goubert, 91, of Westley, who died Saturday, May 4, at her residence.

Born on March 11, 1922 in Horw Grosswil, Switzerland, Mrs. Goubert came here on a boat when she was 6 months old. She was raised on a dairy in Chino, California along with her three brothers and four sisters. Mrs. Goubert worked doing housework at home while her siblings did work out on the dairy.

Mrs. Goubert graduated from Chino High School in 1942. She met her future husband, Ernest Goubert, at the Swiss Park in Duarte, CA. He was off to the army for two years and upon his return they married on Aug.4, 1946. They purchased a farm in Westley in 1967 and moved there in 1968. They lived on the farm until her passing. Mrs. Goubert was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Patterson and enjoyed sewing, gardening and attending to her family.

Her four children, Barbara Jolliff of Modesto, David Goubert and his wife, Karen, of Westley, Irene Bettencourt and her husband, Henry of Westley and Jerry Goubert and his wife, Janine of Westley; 15 grandchildren and 13 great- grandchildren, survive Mrs. Goubert. Her siblings, Walter Riebli of Ontario, CA, Margaret Bernard of Crows Landing, Mary White of Chino, Frieda Nisbet of Chehalis, Wash., and Rosie Eisenhut of Turlock also survive Mrs. Goubert. Her husband, Ernest Lucien Goubert, and two brothers, Louie Riebli and Roman Riebli, preceded Mrs. Goubert in death. A special thank you to her caretakers, Rosalva Soto and Angie Warenas.

A visitation will be observed from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, May 13 followed by a recitation of the rosary at t 7 pm. at Hillview Funeral Chapel, 450 W. Las Palmas Ave., in Patterson. A second visitation will be observed from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday, May 14 at Hillview Funeral Chapel in Patterson followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 529 I St., in Patterson. Burial will follow at Patterson District Cemetery, 10800 Highway 33, Patterson.
