Patterson High School students were recognized May 14 for completing Oak Valley Community Bank’s University of Finance class.

Patterson High Principal Dave Stubbs, career choices instructor Salina Moreno and Oak Valley Community Bank President Chris Courtney presented certificates to the 55 students who completed the course.

PHS teamed with Oak Valley Community Bank to incorporate the EverFi Financial Literacy E-Learning platform into students’ existing curricula. EverFi, which started in 2008, operates K-12 online education in content areas such as financial literacy, student loan management, alcohol prevention, and other life skills.

The online program uses new media technologies, such as gaming, social networking, online animation, video and messaging tools. Patterson High School’s students learned more than 600 personal finance topics, such as budgeting, saving, using credit cards wisely, and financing higher education.

Oak Valley Community Bank was founded in Oakdale in 1990. The bank has many branches throughout the Central Valley including one in Patterson on Plaza Ricle.
