Grade Schoolers move forward

Sacred Heart Catholic School graduated 28 eighth-graders at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 23 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Revs. Rex Hays and Jeremy Dixon commenced the Mass held during the ceremony.

Sacred Heart School graduates are:

Matthew Brooks, Alexandra Candelario, Nicole Chin, Gabrielle Cordova, Ricky Cuevas, Trevor Davies, Michael Days, Dalton Duval, Isabel Flores, Danielle Friedrich, Aaron Frunz, John Guevarra, Adam Heath, Mark Henriques, Kimberly Hill, Jacob Hill, Justin Lockhart, Russell Magee, Shaniya Martin, Jared Michelena, Audrey Poole, Aviana Rivera, Jacob Schali, John Thorkelson, Margaret Thorpe, Angelo Traina, Vincent Vargas and Santi Zuleta.

Scholarships and awards were presented at the end of Mass to the following students:

Mark Henriques: Knights of Columbus scholarship, Father James Galvan scholarship. Young Ladies Institute No. 149 scholarship

Matthew Brooks: Knights of Columbus scholarship, Young Ladies Institute No. 149 scholarship

John Guevarra: Patterson Recognizing Individuals Determined to Excel (P.R.I.D.E.) scholarship

Jared Michelena: Clarence Sousa Memorial scholarship

Plaques were awarded to students in the following areas:

Danielle Friedrich and Angelo Traina: Academic Excellence

Kimberly Hill: Academic Growth

Aaron Frunz and Vincent Vargas: Christian Citizenship
