On September 11, 2012 in Benghazi, Libya, four Americans were assassinated. Nine months later, the American people still do not have a clear picture of what happened and why. President Obama promised full transparency from his administration, but it’s looking more like a full cover-up.
Christopher Stevens, Tyrone Woods and two Navy Seals fought back a terrorist attack at the American Consulate for over 7 hours, waiting for backup that never came.
Their families, friends and the American people deserve and expect answers, accountability and justice from this administration. As chairman of the House Oversight Committee, Rep. Darell Issa, R-Vista, is trying to accomplish this, but the DNC and this administration are stonewalling and politicizing the investigation.
Trudy Rubin of the Philadelphia Inquirer politicizes the issue by accusing the GOP of posturing. She further states “Issa is ready to manipulate the pain and anger of relatives and colleagues of the victims.” I submit to you that their pain and anger is fueled by this administration’s failure to fully address why and how their loved ones were left high and dry to be slaughtered by terrorists.
Trudy is a prime example of the liberal perversion of accusing Republicans of the very same thing that they are guilty of. Rep. Issa’s committee is not there to “manipulate” but to investigate. It’s there to find answers and, subsequently, closure. Are the Democrats and President Obama committed to this also? Remember that President Obama, the day after this historic event, hit the campaign trail to Las Vegas. Was politics all that mattered to him that day? This is one of many questions that I personally want answered.
I find it very disturbing that this investigation into the assassination of four distinguished and decorated patriots has been reduced to Hillary Clinton’s, “What difference, at this point, does it make?” or Dean Jepson of Turlock, CA asking “Why are the four American’s deaths in Benghazi depleting all of the GOP oxygen since 4,600 other Americans lost their lives in workplace settings last year?” Or Trudy Rubin’s calling the investigation by Rep. Issa “GOP posturing.”
I was raised in this country where, when someone is murdered, we try and find who was responsible, why they did it and how we are going to administer justice.
Do liberals only want justice for school children? When they want to confiscate our guns, they tell us if it saves just one child’s life it’s worth it. Why did this administration not try to save the lives of our four Americans in Benghazi? Where their lives not worth it? Was this administration playing politics and it backfired? These questions, and more, deserve to be answered. Let us quit playing politics and bring full transparency to the actions of this administration and full closure and justice to the family and friends of four dead heroes.
