Juan T. Salinas

A funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, July 17 for Juan T. Salinas, who was born to Pablo and Teresa Salinas in Calipatria in 1931. .

Mr. Salinas, 82, moved to Patterson in 1954 where he met his wife of 37 years, Guadalupe Salinas. Mr. Salinas was the founder of Salinas Farm Labor. Those who were fortunate to have known Mr. Salinas knew is he was a kind, spiritual, strong willed, inspirational, loving, wise, husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved spending time with his family and sharing stories of the past. Papa Juan, as his family calls him, will never be forgotten and will always be a hero. He is now walking the streets of gold.

Mr. Salinas is survived by his wife, Guadalupe Salinas of Patterson; sons, Ernie Castro of Modesto and Joe Luna and Nachie Luna, both of Patterson; daughters, Mary Salinas of Santa Maria and Terri Salinas, Gabby Luna and Candy Arroyo, all of Patterson; brother, Andy Salinas of Santa Clara; sisters, Angie Castro of San Jose and Mary Salinas of Santa Clara; 22 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lydia Luna, and two brothers and two sisters.

The funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 17 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, 650 W. Las Palmas Ave., in Patterson. Burial will follow at Patterson District Cemetery, 10800 Highway 33, Patterson. .

Hillview Funeral Chapel, 450 W. Las Palmas Ave., Patterson is handling the arrangements. .
