California Highway Patrol investigators are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a damaged silver Honda Accord from the 1990s or 2000s whose driver is suspected of causing a fatal accident early Friday morning in Patterson.

According to CHP, a 35-year-old Patterson resident was walking westbound on Baldwin Avenue, west of Highway 33 in one of the lanes. The vehicle, they believed, struck the pedestrian, possibly killing her on impact at 4:05 a.m. in the morning.

The woman was later identified as Tuipulotu Foumai by the Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office.

“I can’t speculate to say whether someone did this intentionally,” said Eric Parsons, a public information officer at the Modesto CHP office. “But the suspect left the scene of the accident. Whether it was intentional or not, you should never leave the scene of the accident.”

CHP were able to detect the silver Accord based on broken car parts left at the scene of the crime.

Although CHP has yet to find any witnesses to the accident, they are asking anyone with information on the identity of the car or its driver to contact Officer Allen at (209) 545-7440.
