A 20-year-old Patterson female was killed after sustaining fatal injuries in a vehicular crash in Patterson Sunday, August 4 at approximately 9:53 p.m.

Driver Domingo Rodarte, 25, and passenger Sandra Rodarte, 21, of Patterson also sustained major injuries.

According to a news release by the Department of California Highway Patrol in Modesto, alcohol was a suspected factor to the accident, which caused the driver to collide into a dirt embankment.

On Sunday evening, Domingo Rodarte was driving a white 2000 Volkswagen Jetta northbound on Elm Avenue, approaching Almond Avenue at an undetermined speed.

“For an unknown reason,” Rodarte made an abrupt turn, causing the Volkswagen to travel off the west shoulder of the road’s edge and collide into a dirt irrigation bank.

The collision forced the Volkswagen to become airborne, overturning several times before careening into a walnut tree.

The right front passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. The Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office has yet to identify the victim at this time, and is hopeful to locate the next of kin.

Sandra Rodriguez-Rodarte sustained major injuries and was transported by air ambulance to Memorial Medical Center for treatment. Domingo Rodarte also sustained major injuries, and was transported to Doctor’s Medical Center in Modesto for treatment. Rodarte was also arrested for Felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter.

The collision remains under investigation.

People drive like teenage girls on the roads from here to Turlock and Modesto. I was almost killed by an illegal immigrant drunk driver while he was running from the cops on Fulkerth rd . Glad this loser got what he deserved . There is never an excuse to take someone's life like this , he'll have his whole life to be sober and think about it in our horrible county jail.
