Free programs abound at local library

The Patterson Branch Library is offering free programs to local residents through August at the library, 46 N. Salado Ave.

• Free civics class for any resident who wishes to become a U.S. citizen will run from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Mondays through August and into September until Sept. 23.

• Scrappin’ in Patterson from noon to 4:45 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10. Get Scrappin’ is s series of self-guided sessions and scrap bookers are on hand and available to help. Participants should bring their own materials. Light refreshments will be provided.

• Friends of the Patterson Library will meet at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 12.

• Children’s Craft Program at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 14 will have children making homemade play dough to bring home. Materials provided.

• Teen Game Night at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 21. Teens can enjoy table games and pizza as well as make a can tab craft.

• Family Movie Day at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24 features “Rise of the Guardians” based on the children’s book series by William Joyce. Friends of the Patterson Library will provide light refreshments.

• Family Spanish Storytime is set for 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 27.

Patterson Branch Library is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday; 10 a.m. to 5 pm on Thursday and Saturday; closed on Friday and Sunday.
