An injustice to our community

I want to comment on the "National Night Out” article that was published in your newspaper. I attend Family Christian Center and our church hosted an event for National Night Out. We were so excited to be asked to do so, and at the conclusion of the celebration, we were thrilled with the outcome!

Our neighborhood connected with our public servants, and the families all had a fabulous time getting to know our firefighters and law enforcement. The BBQ was hot, the food was good and the entertainment was top notch.

It was disheartening, to say the least, that our participation, along with the HOST house, was totally omitted. At best, this article was incomplete and only delivered part of the story.

I will tell you that the children at our event were overcome with excitement when the public servants rolled up. Parents and adult participants were moved to tears.

I would encourage you to be more thorough in your future articles. It is an injustice to our community to only deliver part of the story. Due to the recent onslaught of gang violence, burglaries and overall negative situations, National Night Out was a much needed event. It’s shameful that only a portion of the celebration was covered in your article.
