One-sided story on Housing Authority

EDITOR:

I was surprised to see a newspaper, whose primary goal is to report the facts, write an article so one-sided about the Stanislaus Co Housing Authority and its President, Diana Haile.

Although the article appeared on the Voice page, it was obviously written by Irrigator staff member using information only from some disgruntled employees upset about receiving a 2% COLA.

If the Irrigator had made the slightest effort, they could have gone on the NAHRO website, as I just did, and view the schedule related to the summer 2013 conference held in Denver in July and see for themselves that it was not about Yoga or Zumba dancing. Rather, it was two days filled with various workshops and lectures related to Housing Authority Business development.

Irrigator readers deserve to read more than one side of the story supplied by a disgruntled employee upset that they did not receive and extra half percent raise, while other like businesses are forgoing raises to their employees and issuing mandatory furlough days.

Also, the West side received 11 percent of the National Stimulus Package funds, which may represent the correct percentage of population of homeless served across the entire Stanislaus County.

West Side readers of the Irrigator deserve to read more than a skewed one sided tail of employee woe. How about printing an article next week that tells the entire story.

Below is the conference schedule downloaded from the NAHRO website, in case you are interested in knowing what actually went on at the conference.
