A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Sept. 20 for Norberta Victor Carter, 77, of Patterson, who died on Saturday, Sept. 14 at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto after a long courageous fight against breast cancer and bone cancer.
Mrs. Carter was a native of Terceira, Azores, and a resident of Patterson for 53 years. She was employed by Tri Valley #5 Cannery as an Inventory Control Supervisor for 26 years. She was a parishioner at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Patterson and a member of the Young Ladies Institute. Mars, Carter was married to her late husband, Gene Carter, for 53 years. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed traveling.
Her daughter, Delany Carter of Livermore; sister, Fernanda Melo of Gustine; nieces, Donalda Souza and her husband, Joe, of Los Banos and Vicky Amaral and her husband, Joe, of Patterson, survive Mrs. Carter. Her husband, Gene Carter who died in 2012, preceded her in death.
A visitation will be observed from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19 at Hillview Funeral Chapel, 450 W. Las Palmas Ave., in Patterson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 20 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 529 I St, in Patterson. Burial will follow at Patterson District Cemetery, 10800 Highway 33, Patterson.
