Rita Ortega, 73 of Patterson passed away Tuesday at her Residence.

Mrs. Ortega was born in Jalisco, Mexico, was a resident of Patterson and resided in the Patterson and Westley area for 40 years. She worked in Agriculture for many years and was also a Homemaker. She was a Parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Patterson. She enjoyed shopping, going to Casino's, loved spending time with her family and grandchildren, and was an exceptional cook.

Mrs. Ortega is survived by her husband, Leonides Ortega; son, Francisco Ortega; daughters, Angelica Alvarez, Rosalva Barragan, Lorena Teran, Sonia Ortega and Zulma Maldonado all of Patterson; brothers, Isidro Villafana of Mexico, Gabriel Villafana and Miguel Villafana both of Westley; sisters, Mary Estrella of Patterson, Irene Perez of Livingston, Margarita Lopez of Mexico, Irma Jara of Vernalis, and Judith Covarrubias of Ceres; 18 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Francisco and Guadalupe Villafana and brother, Alfredo Villafana.

A Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, Monday, September 30th followed by a Rosary at 7:00 pm at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Patterson. A Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:00 am followed by A Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am , Tuesday, October 1st at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Patterson. Interment to follow at Patterson District Cemetery in Patterson.
