Patterson High School students are currently having a fun filled week of playing games and sports, dressing in costumes and marching in a downtown parade for the PHS Fall Homecoming Week from Sept. 30 to Oct. 4.
This year’s theme is decades, with the traditional homecoming cerebration culminating in a football showdown between the PHS Tigers and the Central Valley High School Hawks on Friday, Oct. 4 at the Patterson Community Stadium.
Seniors will highlight the 1980s, while juniors will go back to the 1990s; sophomores will recall the 1970s and freshmen will remember the 1960s. Dress-up days at school are: Monday, Denim Day, where students dress in early 2000s; Tuesday, Decade Day, where students will have a chance to dress in their classes’ preselected decade; Wednesday, students will remember the 50s, while Thursday will welcome old favorites back in the spotlight for Throwback Sports Day. Friday is designated Tiger Pride Day, where students are encouraged to wear their school colors.
The week’s activities include the following highlights:
n Monday, Sept. 30: Movie Night, for students only, PHS gym from 7 to 9 p.m.
n Tuesday, Oct.1: Night Rally, Community Stadium, 7-9 p.m. The event included a lip sync and boys’ cheer from each class, along with Polynesian dance and cheer performances. Students and teachers also went head-to-head in a variety of games.
n Wednesday, Oct. 2: Volleyball game, Patterson vs. Ceres, PHS gym. Game times included freshmen, 4 p.m.; junior varsity at 5:30 p.m. and varsity at 7 p.m.
n Thursday, Oct. 3: Powder Puff flag football games will take place at the Patterson Community Stadium today. Freshmen will battle the sophomores at 7 to 8 p.m. and juniors will face against the seniors at 9 p.m. The cost is $1 with an ASB card and $2 without.
n Friday, Oct. 4: The homecoming parade starts at 12:15 p.m., where participants will march from PHS to the downtown district.
A football game against the Central Valley High School Hawks at the Patterson Community Stadium will take place, with the junior varsity playing at 5 p.m. and the varsity at 7 p.m. The class royalty will parade during the respective halftimes. The event is free to students with an ASB card.
n A Homecoming dance will cap-off the evening from 9 p.m. to 12 midnight. The dance theme is the 1920s. Admission is $5 with an ASB card and $7 without.
