Patterson’s boys cross country runners built on that success to finish fifth as a team. Antonio Venegas was the Tigers’ next finisher in the run. His time of 17:53 secured a fourth-place finish. Teammate Dylan Halland was close behind, finishing 38th in a time of 20:09.
Patterson’s Jose Jaramillo (62nd) finished in 22:32. Alex Beruman (65th, 22:52), Seth Dalmer (82nd, 26:05) and Daniel Arciniega (83rd, 26:08) also fared well for the Tigers.
In the girls 3.1-mile race, Patterson also placed fifth. Lupe Ventura was the first Tiger to finish, placing second with a time of 21:31. Brenda Vargas took 18th with a time of 17:42, while Alejandra Carrasco, in 31st place overall, clocked in at 25:19.
Also contributing to the Patterson score were Jenevy Esqueda (33rd, 25:31), Eriah Lano-Nutter (45th, 27:19) and Carina Sotelo (54th, 28:29).
Steven Halseth led Patterson to a second-place team showing in the sophomore boys 2-mile trek, winning the race at 12:32. Teammate Tomas Virgen came in fourth for the Tigers (12:56), followed by Sean Hicks (11th, 13:29). Carlos Ponce (17th, 13:48), Arturo Navarro (26th, 14:46), Daniel Isquierdo (32nd, 15:01) and John McCord (54th, 15:14) rounded out the team’s top times.
Patterson's junior varsity girls did not have enough runners for a team score, however, Carla Cordero (11th) timed 26:25 over the 3.1-mile course. Teammate Lanaeya Banks (17th) ran the course in 28:40, and Michelle Martinez (19th) finished at 29:58.
In the freshmen girls 2-mile race, Xylana Gama (11th) was the only competitor from Patterson, finishing with a time of 18:12.
