EDITOR:

Hello, my name's Castanelia Parrales and I am a resident of Patterson. I have recently become more concerned with the intersection at Shearwater Drive and American Eagle Avenue, as they do not having a crossing guard.

That intersection is between two schools, Creekside Middle School and Apricot Valley Elementary school. The city has provided crossing guards at the corner of each school, but seemed to have missed a very important intersection.

I've noticed parents rushing to drop off their kids and not wanting to wait for children crossing the streets to get to their schools. I also noticed an older lady crossing the street, and as she approached the middle of the street, the driver waiting to go just took off fast and scared her.

I think it is critical that the city of Patterson provides a crossing guard at that intersection to better the safety of our children.

I spoke to Jason Hayward today concerning this matter, being that he is the appointed person, and told me he would bring it to his supervisors' attention.

He also suggested that if there are other parents with this concern to send him an e-mail regarding this so he can put a packet together and present it to the committee.

I am reaching out to you to perhaps get the word out and have parents send e-mails to Mr. Hayward regarding this issue. His e-mail is jhayward@ci.patterson.ca.us. Feel free to contact if you have any questions.

Thank You,

Castanelia Parrales

Patterson resident
