Tigers back on winning track

Following a shutout defeat on Oct. 10, the Patterson High girls tennis team bounced back with a 5-4 victory over the Ceres High Bulldogs on Oct. 15.

With the road win, the Tigers improved to 7-3 for the Western Athletic Conference season.

Against Ceres (5-5) last week, Patterson won three of its six singles matches and two of three doubles matches.

In the No. 2 singles spot, Kendal Norfleet defeated Ceres' Angelica Slater in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3.

Avery Chairez outplayed her opponent in the No. 3 singles match, winning 6-3, 6-4 against Bianca DeAnda.

Keanna Garza added a 6-1, 6-1 win against Jasmine Esparza in the No. 5 singles spot.

Patterson’s Ngoc Nguyen and Arianna Rico stopped Jolyce Vega and Bryana Lopez at No. 2 doubles, 6-3, 6-0, and in the No. 3 doubles spot, Catarina Borges and Wendy Zuleta recorded a 6-3, 6-4 win against Stephanie Garcia and Domonique Koeurn.
