The Stanislaus County Emergency Food and Shelter Program Local Board will begin the application process for Phase 31 funding of $356,679 awarded by the National E.F.S.P. Board, a program funded through the Department of Homeland Security and chaired by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
A mandatory application workshop for local service organizations that wish to apply for the money will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at the Red Cross office 1230 Sixth St., Modesto. Those who wish to attend must respond to the meeting.
The E.F.S.P. application deadline is at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 21.
Through a competitive application process, the Stanislaus E.F.S.P. Board will award funds to local service organizations that provide emergency food and shelter programs. The Local Board is responsible for recommending agencies to receive these funds and any additional funds made available under this phase of the program.
To be eligible under terms of the National E.F.S.P. Board, local applying agencies must meet the basic requirements of be a private voluntary non-profits or units of government; be eligible to receive federal funds; have an accounting system, practice nondiscrimination; have demonstrated the capability to deliver emergency food and/or shelter, and if a private voluntary organization, have a voluntary board. Qualifying organizations are urged to apply.
