Patterson High School’s Kids Helping Kids group is in its sixth year of helping local children in need, and the group members have a high goal this year. They want to exceed the more than $8,000 they raised last year, which helped 50 kids have a nice holiday.

Kids Helping Kids uses donations from the community and money raised from fundraisers to shop at Kohl’s in Turlock. The local PHS students help buy clothing and other needs for elementary school-aged youngsters.

This year, the Kids Helping Kids group, children and chaperones will go shopping on Monday, Dec. 9 to Kohl’s in Turlock.

“(Kohl’s) have been great with giving us discounts and donating money,” Diane Peterson, PHS teacher and group coordinator said. “In the past, Kohl’s employees have also donated their time as chaperones.”

Recently, there are 30-plus Kids Helping Kids Club members who are recycling at the school grounds and at sporting events to acquire cash. The local club also went trick-or-treating for donations. Club members will also present programs at local clubs and organizations in the next month, asking for donations.

After the shopping spree for clothes and shoes, a Christmas Party will follow in the PHS cafeteria, where children will have a visit from Santa Claus.

Also, local banks will soon display trees that will have tags on them for people to purchase toys for our Santa Claus gifts. Area restaurants and businesses will also get in on the fundraising by offering discounts on dinners or money for the Kids Helping Kids shopping event.

TO DONATE: Send donations to Patterson High School Kids Helping Kids, 200 N Seventh St., Patterson, CA. 95363
