The California Fertilizer Foundation presented a $1,200 school garden grant Thursday morning at 10 a.m., Oct. 31, to the Rising Sun School, 2243 Welty Road in Vernalis. CFF’s program director Mary Junqueiro, as well as several local dignitaries, including Sen. Anthony Cannella and Assemblyman Adam Grey were present to advocate the contribution. Rising Sun is just one of 24 schools to be awarded the grant this year, with only 12 receiving $1,200 in gardening scholarships.
