Patterson won its tournament opener Thursday, Dec. 5, hammering Ridgeview High of Bakersfield, 64-34. Shealyn Craven led the Tigers with 17 points and six steals. Teammate Povai Fesili added 12 points, while Dayna Hansen had nine points and eight rebounds.
Danielle Jenkins scored eight points, while Jovanah Arrington (eight rebounds, four assists) and Mele Tupouata tossed in six each for Patterson.
The team proceeded to edge Fairfax High of Bakersfield, 41-40, on Friday, Dec. 6. Fesili and Craven again paced the Tigers, with nine and eight points, respectively.
Arrington (three assists), Hansen and Jenkins each scored six points for the local squad.
On Saturday, Dec. 7, Patterson was defeated by the host school, 54-37. Craven tallied nine points, and Kiara Job had eight points.
Tupouata netted five points for Patterson, while Hansen and Ariyanna Cashen contributed four points apiece.
The Tigers finished the tournament with a loss to Oak Ridge High of El Dorado Hills, 53-45, on Saturday.
Arrington had a team-high 14 points and six assists for Patterson in the final game. Hansen added eight points for the Tigers, while Craven and Jenkins each scored six. Tupouata finished with five points.
The season continues Thursday, Dec. 12, as Patterson travels to the Modesto Christian High School Invitational.
Patterson 56, Enochs 42
Patterson (3-2) earned its first win of the 2013-14 season, Dec. 3, besting visiting Enochs High of Modesto.
Three players scored in double figures for Patterson led by Jenkins (six rebounds) with 16 points. Arrington (seven assists) and Hansen (five rebounds) scored 15 and 10 points, respectively.
Tupouata (five rebounds) notched six points, and Job tossed in five.
Jaden Rodriguez had 11 points and four rebounds, but the Patterson JV team took a 52-35 home loss against Enochs on Dec. 3.
Brandy Brown (10 rebounds), Kajeane Davis and Samantha Dougherty (four rebounds, three assists) each finished with eight for the Tigers.
The freshman Tigers lost to Enochs 49-6 on Dec. 10.
Ina Levu tallied 12 rebounds and Jaira Luna added eight boards in the losing effort.
