After leading Patterson High's varsity football team to its ninth consecutive winning campaign while reaching the playoffs for a ninth straight season, Nick Marchy was selected as the Western Athletic Conference Coach of the Year, the league office recently announced.

In his third year at the helm, Marchy guided the Tigers to a 9-1 conference record, 9-2 overall, while earning a No. 4 seed in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division III playoffs. Patterson's bid also gave the team its best start to a season in school history, with nine victories in a row.

Marchy has been part of the Tigers varsity football coaching staff since 2005. He has taught in the school's physical education department since 2008.

Marchy becomes the first Patterson football coach to earn conference coach of the year honors since Rob Cozart (2010).

Marchy began his coaching career as an assistant at Ceres High in 2000, instructing receivers and defensive backs, before joining Cozart's staff at Patterson.

Marchy owns an overall record of 23-10 at Patterson High.
