A Chapel Service will be conducted on Monday, Dec. 23 for Rosemary Mathews, of Patterson, who died on Wednesday, Dec.18 at the Alexander Cohen Hospice House in Hughson.

Mrs. Mathews, 82, was born Sept.14, 1931, in Prague, Okla., to Robert and Ada Kilby. In 1936 she settled in Patterson, where she was a 1949 graduate of Patterson Union High School. She worked for Visiting Nurses Association for 20 years then became a homemaker to care for her grandchildren. She was a member of Kingdom Hall-Jehovah's Witness Modesto South Congregation. She loved her grandchildren, and enjoyed sewing and gardening.

Mrs. Mathews is survived by her daughter, Cynthia and her husband, Mike Homen of Patterson; her sister, Bobbie Jean and husband, Richard Sternberg of Fremont, brother, Walter and wife, Betty Kilby of Modesto, and nine grandchildren Ron, Michael and Robert Mathews, Jamie Fries, Taurean Travis, Amber, Ashley, and Alyssa Homen and Michael Grey, seven great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren with one on the way.

Mrs. Mathews is preceded in death by her husband, Ray Mathews; her parents, Ada and Robert Kilby; children, Mike Mathews, Roseada Travis, and Charles Mathews, and sister, Joidell Sternberg.

A visitation will be observed from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 22 at Allen Mortuary, 247 N. Broadway, Turlock.

A Chapel Service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 23, also at Allen Mortuary.

Private burial will be with her husband, Ray, at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery.
