Patterson High alumni Jacob Priester remains at the head of the class after earning a spot on the Capital One Division III Academic All-America team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

A senior football tight end for Linfield College in McMinnville, Ore., Priester recently earned 2013 second-team Academic All-America accolades, becoming the Linfield Wildcats' first honoree since 2005.

Priester, a 2010 graduate of Patterson High School, carries a 4.0 grade point average in biology and plans a career as an orthopedic surgeon, according to a release filed by Linfield College.

A starter in all 11 games this season for the Wildcats, Priester hauled in five catches and scored one touchdown during the team's 2013 Northwest Conference championship season.

A former Patterson High football standout, Priester was a Scholar-Athlete award recipient and a Patterson valedictorian, maintaining an overall 4.6 GPA.

In 2009, Priester was named to the Western Athletic Conference's first team as an offensive lineman. In his senior season, he was selected to the WAC's first team as a defensive end and to the league's second team as a tight end. He was named the conference's top defensive lineman and also earned an honorable mention as a defensive end on the all-district team.

Jacob is the son of Gwen and Randall Priester.
