At approximately 6:42 p.m., officers from the Newman Police Department responded to a report Sunday evening that someone had been shot on the 1200 block of Merced Street. When officers arrived at the scene, they located a young juvenile male victim, whose name is being withheld for security purposes.
A report conducted by the Newman Police said the victim appeared to be suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in the upper body. The young victim was then transported to a local hospital by ground ambulance, although no clarifications were made as to his condition or which hospital he is in due to safety purposes.
While tending to the male victim, another report came in to the Newman Police regarding a juvenile female who also suffered bullet wounds in the 500 block of Real Court. The police report claims that the young girl was involved in the same incident and was suffering from a gunshot wound to her lower body.
The young female victim was also transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital. Due to safety purposes, her condition and her current location are being disclosed.
