The funeral service and burial will be private for Marilynne Elizabeth Allen, 85, of Patterson, who died peacefully in her sleep on Dec.23 at Doctors Medical Center from complications resulting from a recent hip fracture.

Born August 23, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late John Francis Ballinger and Mary Brown Nourse Ballinger.

After high school Marilynne attended the University of Chicago, Illinois State and earned her M.S. degree at San Francisco State University. She was a Downey High School physical education teacher for seven years before getting married and becoming a full time homemaker. Mrs. Allen served many years on the Patterson Unified School District Board of Trustees. She was also actively involved in many community organizations such as PRIDE, Patterson Garden Club, and Patterson Friends of the Library.

Mrs. Allen is preceded in death by her husband, Allister Albert Allen and leaves behind three children, Carrie Silveira and her husband, John, of Hilmar, Lisa Balucas and her husband, Ernie of Fresno, and Carter Allen and his wife, Judy of Patterson, five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one sister, Lourania Price of Danville.

Services and burial will be private.

Hillview Funeral Chapel, 450 W. Las Palmas Ave., Patterson, is handling the arrangements.
