Have you ever considered what it would be like to stand before the LORD Almighty, the Creator of all things?
As I write, we are moments away from celebrating Christmas. It is such a tender and sweet way to remember our Lord, and the wonderful way God reached out to humanity. We “ooh” and “ah” over the festivities, and even tear up with joyful hearts as we reflect on God’s love, but too often, that is as far as our worship goes. Once the decorations are down and life returns to the pre-Christmas cadence, we can easily fall back into complacency in our walk with God.
Imagine for a moment then what it would be like to see God for who He is. In the verse from Isaiah, we see His presence described as being so awesome that the angels covered their faces and Isaiah cried out in fear.
Not exactly a crying infant in a manger.
As we come to the close of yet another year, I want to encourage each of us to take a fresh look at the holiness of God. I want to remember how gracious He is and how loving, but I don’t want to leave my adoration of Him in the manger.
His holiness deserves reverence and respect. Enter into His courts with praise, and a keen sense of His majesty. In doing so, we rightly align ourselves to receive the blessings He holds in His hands.
