Riding a lengthy conference winning streak heading into Tuesday night's matchup against Ceres High, the Patterson High varsity girls basketball team had no issues extending that run to 16 games, dating back to the end of the 2011-12 season, with a 87-16 victory over the Bulldogs.

The supporting cast took care of supplying the energy in the Tigers' defeat of visiting Ceres, a win keyed by bench production.

Patterson (13-4 overall, 2-0 WAC) is fortunate to have so many options.

In addition to 15 points and two assists from starting guard Shealyn Craven, along with 12 points and three assists from reserve guard Jordynn Scheuller, Patterson had nine other players score baskets.

Jovanah Arrington gave the Tigers 10 points and five assists, and Ariyanna Cashen added nine points and a game-high eight rebounds off the bench.

Patterson made eight 3-pointers, including three from Craven, and owned the paint with frontcourt starters Kiara Job (eight points, six rebounds), Dayna Hansen (seven points, three rebounds) and Mele Tupouata (five points, five rebounds).

Seven different players scored points in the first quarter when Patterson outscored Ceres 18-3 to take control and never look back.

The Tigers led 47-9 at the intermission and 74-16 after three quarters and received strong efforts and extended minutes from all of their reserves, including Tiana Barron (seven points) and Janae Jackson (seven points).

Having had a relatively easy time winning its first two WAC games by an average margin of 63 points, Patterson now looks to carry over that success to the road.

The Tigers will continue the conference season at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, against host Central Catholic High of Modesto.
