EDITOR:

…I want to share my story of a fact. A little over a week ago, I experienced a very close to home gunfire shoot out (less than half a block away).

I right away called 911 and was asked, “Did you witness the shooting?”

I said no and was hung up on!

I returned a call to 911. This time it wasn’t too polite; I demanded officers to come out. I was told if you did not see the crime happen, then there is nothing that can be done.

A week later, the Sheriff was looking for suspects they gave up chase on because they had no idea where they were at or what direction they were heading. We need to praise our city and county leadership for our protective, deserved rights that we pay for.

Or is it their raises every year that rob us of sleeping at ease every night?

Has it finally become the day we are forced to arm ourselves just to go out and check the mailbox?

Patterson resident
