The 2014 Apricot Fiesta’s Poetry and Prose Annual Writing Contest is now open.

Talented writers of all ages are invited to enter the annual contest.

Entry rules:

All submissions must be typed. Writers can submit entries up to 500 words — poems or short stories — about any holiday, special day or event in their lives. Illustrations are encouraged. Students should be sure to include their name, teacher, and homeroom and or phone number so chairwoman Karen Willard can contact the winners. The deadline is Friday March 28, 2014.

The winning submissions will be printed in a prose and poetry review and a Cover Art Design Contest for the review book has a deadline of Friday April 11, 2014.

Artwork must be on an 8 ½ x 11-inch size paper with a 1-inch margin. The cover design must say “29th Annual Poetry & Prose and 44th Apricot Fiesta” on it and must be copy ready.

Entries may be submitted by the appropriate due dates to Apricot Fiesta, c/o Karen Willard, P.O. Box 442, Patterson, CA 95363, or sent to Shari Fraga, c/o Patterson Unified School District, 510 Keystone Blvd, Patterson, CA or dropped off at the school district office from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday or at the Apricot Fiesta Office 26 S. Third St., Suite G, Patterson, CA.

For information: Karen Willard, 404-6044.
