In association with the Stanislaus District Attorney’s Office and Catholic Charities, the Stanislaus Elder Abuse Prevention Alliance will be hosting informational luncheon meetings with various speakers at the Hammon Senior Center in Patterson.

The Elder Abuse Prevention Program was created to educate the public about the physical, emotional and financial abuse of our seniors.

Outreach efforts include presentations and training sessions for Certified Nursing Assistants, facility staff, clergy, service organizations, financial institutions and other mandated reporters.

Topics include mandated reporting procedures, identity theft and scams.

The program is currently sponsored by the Patterson Lions Club. Their latest meeting was in association with the Office of Emergency Services, where they spoke on Disaster Preparedness and services provided by the American Red Cross.

The presentation revolved around an Emergency Channel specifically designed for Stanislaus County.

In Patterson, the station is FM92.7 for English and FM 97.1 for Spanish.

The Stanislaus Elder Abuse Prevention Alliance will host their next meeting at 10 a.m. on Feb. 11 at the Hammon Senior Center.

They will also be hosting their first S.A.F.E. seminar on Elder Abuse Prevention at the Hammon Senior Center on Feb. 27.

The seminar is open to everyone and will include a complimentary continental breakfast and full lunch. The seminar is, however, limited to the first 100 reservations.
