“But without faith it is impossible to please Him for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him” Hebrews 11:6

On Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1975 I walked down the aisle at church to marry my very best friend.

Although I’d known him only five months, I was convinced he was the answer to my prayers, the one who God had chosen for my husband.

It was an act of faith to stand before God, our family and friends, and commit to love each other for the rest of our lives, and a commitment neither of us takes lightly. Thirty-nine years later we are still happily married.

I thank God repeatedly for our marriage. Before meeting Dale I had bruised myself on destructive decisions made out of self-will and pride, having allowed the world’s thinking to influence me rather than constantly seeking the path God had for me.

Because of my poor choices, I bore the scars of broken trusts and self-doubt. The only thing I knew for certain was the hope of grace I clung to and the love of this man who had asked me to marry him.

The most endearing thing was his love for God and his desire to follow Him. It continues to captivate my heart.

In following God’s lead to marry Dale, I found true love. God’s character is consistently demonstrated in our marriage.

It is a divine romance, not only because it is God given, but also because compassion, mercy, grace, dignity, honor, respect, truth, steadfastness, integrity and hope are all evident in our relationship.

The time we spend together studying God’s word and praying are precious.

Our marriage has been tremendously blessed because of our decision to follow Christ and to serve God wherever He leads.

I look forward to many, many more years with the love of my life.

In closing, I want to encourage all of you who are in love, or are looking for love to put God first in your life. You will find the divine romance you desire.

To know true love, it is necessary to know the author of love, and allow Him to lead in every way.

I promise you, in doing so you won’t be disappointed.

Happy Anniversary, honey! I love you more than word’s can express.
