More than 60 students and eight parents in the Patterson Joint Unified School District attended the statewide Steps to College Fair in Sacramento on Saturday, Feb. 1.

The objective of Steps to College is to explain the full line of resources available for students to finance their higher education, to expose Latino families to the admissions process on Northern California higher education institutions and to assist Latino students in completing their student aid applications.

Students also had the chance to learn more about available scholarships and the Cal Grant programs.

The programs in both Spanish and English were conducted all day long at the Consulate General of Mexico in Sacramento located at 2093 Arena Blvd.

Community and higher education partners such as The California Student Aid Commission; Consulate General of Mexico in Sacramento; Cien Amigos; Mexican Cultural Center of Northern California; Latino Policy Coalition; Dream Develop Do.; College Board; Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities; UC Davis; and Sacramento State University present the event.
