Farmers market coupon distribution

WHEN: 4 to 6 p.m.

WHERE: Patterson Farmers’ Market, 1040 W. Las Palmas Ave.

DETAILS: The Area Agency on Aging has received Senior Farmers Market coupon booklets for distribution to men and women age 60 and older. The coupons are for seniors who live in Stanislaus County and have a limited income of $1,799 a month or less for an individual, or $2,425 a month for a couple. Seniors are entitled to the coupons, worth $20, once a year. Coupons can be used like cash at Certified Farmers Markets to buy fresh fruits, vegetables, honey or edible herbs. This is a farmer subsidy, so seniors should redeem coupons by mid-November. Coupons are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

May is Older Americans Month and the focus of the month is on health and injury prevention with the theme, “Safe Today, Healthy Tomorrow.”

Food Pantry fundraiser scheduled

WHERE: Federated Methodist-Presbyterian Church Hall, 45 S. El Circulo

DETAILS: Patterson residents are invited to a fun evening to raise money for the Westside Food Pantry. Participants can enjoy a salad bar meal, then make their own lavender wreath with the supplies and instructions provided by Lavender Hollow Farms in Escalon. Reservations should be made as soon as possible as seating is limited.
